About Nest at Mockingbird

What started as an effort to give my students in East New York, Brooklyn a chance to experience life beyond the city has grown into something much bigger—a place where families can reconnect with nature in a meaningful way.

I’m a mother of four and a former educator of 13 years, and this project is deeply personal to me. During my time in the classroom, I worked with students who had never experienced the outdoors—no camping, no farms, no connection to nature. I saw how powerful even small moments outside could be, and I knew those experiences should be accessible to more families.

The Nest at Mockingbird was created to do just that.

Located on privately owned land in North Carolina, this woman-owned, family-focused glamping and agritourism retreat is designed to offer more than just a place to stay. It’s a space to slow down, unplug, and experience the outdoors through connection, simplicity, and intentional design.

From cozy accommodations to outdoor gathering spaces and nature-based experiences, every detail is thoughtfully created to help families reconnect—with each other and with the natural world.
